Adelaide’s queer clubbing scene has a few mainstays, but it’s nice to get some fresh energy in the mix. Snap Crackle Pop from Melbourne’s Poof Doof is here to bring this fresh energy. Running every Sunday night of Fringe at Lvl 5 RCC, Snap Crackle Pop is a joyous and colourful evening with some great tunes and a rotating cavalry of performers.
There was a strange blend of nostalgia: both from being in the old Unibar, where I spent many an afternoon ‘writing essays,’ and from the playlist, which was a nostalgic mix of ‘90s and ‘00s hits, as well as some more recent tunes. It was particularly fabulous going on Mardi Gras weekend – our LGBTQI+ family is loving, radical, and we’re here to have fun.
The fact that it runs on Sunday nights is kind of frustrating: it’s hard to stay out until 3am when you’ve got work Monday morning. Next week has a public holiday on the Monday, though, so you’re set for a great night out!
